The Newham Food Alliance plays a crucial role in the borough’s https://www.newham.gov.uk/health-adult-social-care/50-steps-healthier-newham specifically priority 6 : Create a healthier food environment, steps 25 – 27. The NFA works with Felix and a wide range of partners to address food poverty in the borough.
About you
You will have experience of driving a vehicle up to 7.5t GVM in accordance with the Council’s & The Felix Project’s Fleet Management Policies and Procedures and in compliance with all legal requirements.
As you will be responsible for carrying out a range of food deliveries around Newham in conjunction with the Felix Project, to meet agreed performance standards and timescales, you will need experience of multi-drops, be highly organised and be solution focused.
You will also possess experience of working in a warehouse type environment and when required to do so, you will need to carry out other general tasks including but not limited to
- Food stock taking
- Take incoming deliveries if warehouse operative is unable to and/or off of work
- Operating warehouse equipment when necessary
- Conducting additional deliveries as and when necessary
- Collection of stock if delivery is not feasible
- Assisting the NFA partners with moving stock around
- Composing food top-ups upon request
It will be your responsibility to report and record of defects in equipment, property, surfaces etc., which may arise, to the appropriate responsible person and alongside the senior driver, carry out daily checks and basic maintenance of vehicles, machinery, equipment and tools.
You must have great customer service skills and maintain existing positive relationships and develop new positive relationships with NFA partners (voluntary, community & faith sectors and Felix to name some).
