1.1 JOB TITLE NCS Activity Leader (Facilitator 1)

1.2 SALARY Competitive Salary

1.3 DATES Working weeks will run from the 3rdJuly – 28th August during

the summer and also include 29th May – 2nd June and
23rd– 27th October.

1.4 HOURS Monday – Friday residential week, Food and accommodation
provided during the five day working week.

1.5 LOCATIONS Siblyback Lake, Cornwall. Roadford Lake, Devon.
Wimbleball Lake, Somerset. Transport to the
residential location will be provided from pick-up
locations in your area. You will required to travel on
the coaches from the pick-up points.

1.6 RESPONSIBLE TO NCS Wave Leader, NCS Programme manager and Head
of NCS.

OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE

2.1 To ensure the successful delivery of a week-long residential Program with NCS, you will need to lead a team of up to 16 young people in a safe, effective, and successful manner. This will involve motivating your team through activities, working with them through guided reflection, helping them become more self-aware, and fostering independence. You must maintain a high level of safeguarding and safety throughout the week and provide supervision and direction to the Assistant Team Leader/s, accurately coordinating workloads between you to guarantee a smooth and enjoyable experience for the young people on NCS.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Ensure the health and safety, wellbeing and engagement of wave staff and program participants at all times.

3.2 Ensure that the young people are engaging with planned activities and effectively manage any behavioral issues.

3.3 Deliver curriculum workshops and presentations exampled in our NCS training program.

3.4 Take responsibility for your NCS team register.

3.5 Lead guided reflection.

3.6 Ensure that all key administration tasks are completed.

3.7 Follow protocols, such as: Safeguarding, Incident, Governance and Health and Safety.

3.8 Ensure that the activities being offered are inclusive.

3.9 Engage positively with community partners and continue to manage those relationships.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

4.1 Experience and knowledge in the delivery of fast-paced educational and training programme.

4.2 Experience in working with young people in paid or voluntary capacity.

CAPABILITIES

4.3 A positive, engaging and motivating attitude with a passion for community and team building.

4.4 Ability to work well with other NCS Wave/Team/Assistant Team Leaders and maintain professional boundaries and appropriate standards at all times.

4.5 Ability to engage with young people, some of whom may have learning, emotional or behavioural difficulties.

4.6 Good level of communication and reporting skills.

4.7 Ability to complete day-to-day administration duties relating to the program.

4.8 Be able to adapt, change and make quick but informed decisions.

4.9 Follow a set curriculum whilst being able to adapt it in order to suit varied audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

4.10 Full DBS clearance which is done after successful interview.

4.11 Full driving License and access to own vehicle, or have assistance with travel.

4.12 An outgoing and positive attitude to all aspects of the role

Desirable:

4.12 First Aid Certificate
