Join Police Digital Service as a National Standards Business Analyst
The person in this role will work closely with the Standards Lead to manage and develop the data & technical standards service for policing. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team working across a diverse range of technologies and policing programmes. This a key function within PDS and the Analyst will work with policing, the private sector and the Home Office to help establish best practices and standards within UK law enforcement. The role is a combination of technology, governance and analysis in support of the successful and timely delivery of the ambitions described in the National Policing Digital Strategy.

The Role and Responsibilities
- Work with Solution and Enterprise Architects to embed standards into policing systems.
- Create business cases and provide detailed analysis.
- Work with the National Standards Lead to maintain a holistic view of the challenges facing policing and find solutions for them.
- Represent PDS in technical communities, collate feedback to be used in the application of standards.
- Review and provide input into standards that are being developed within policing, government, the private sector and academia.
- Assist in the management of the technical platform that hosts data and technical standards.
- Research latest developments in data and technology that may impact the adoption of standards within Policing.
- Assist in the running of the National Standards Assurance Board (NSAB). The Business Analyst may occasionally step in as the chair of the NSAB when the Standards Lead is unavailable.
- Preparation for the quarterly National Standards Governance Boards.
- Analysis of standards documents and best practice guidance.
- Assisting in the production of funding papers and annual 3rd party reports as required.
- Work directly with policing and the private sector to help them implement data and technical standards into their systems
What you need to succeed in the role
This is a diverse role that will allow the holder flexibility to investigate developing trends within IT (for example the metaverse or application of drones). The successful candidate will need to be able to translate strategy into actions. You should be confident in managing small projects and be able to work with a range of technical and non-technical individuals. You should have the ability to analyse and resolve complex problems.
