Every year, Scottish Water is pleased to host a variety of summer internship programmes, open to university students in the penultimate year of their degree programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your studies and challenge yourself to develop your practical skills in line with your future career aspirations.
We are delighted this year to be able to offer a 12-week Summer Internship from June to September 2023, specialising in Research & Innovation.
What might life look like as a Research & Innovation Intern?
Scottish Water’s Summer Internship scheme will give you a taste of what it feels like to work in one of the largest water companies in the world.
The role location will be split between our Glasgow (Stepps) and Edinburgh (Fairmilehead) offices, with some time working from home.
As a Research & Innovation Intern, you will learn about influencing research and innovation in a large organisation. You will contribute to meeting Scottish Water’s strategic objectives – Transforming our emissions and Embracing the Circular Economy, whilst having the opportunity to meet innovation professionals across the industry.
You may be involved in:
  • Data analysis
  • Report writing
  • On site technology calibration
  • Health & Safety, security & wellbeing awareness
What does a successful candidate look like?
To be eligible to apply for this internship programme you will be a penultimate year student (for example in your third year of a four-year course, or in your fourth year but going on to study a master’s degree).
You will be studying towards a degree in a science-based discipline and be confident with a wide range of Microsoft packages.
