Job introduction
Move on Officer working with Acquisitions Team
For an informal discussion, please contact Ruth Robertson on 01273 292676
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acquisitions team supporting moves to alternative accommodation options but primarily private rented accommodation outside of the homeless pathway.
You will have a positive attitude towards enabling people to privately rent and an awareness of the issues that tenants may face renting privately in Brighton & Hove. A big part of the role will be liaising with tenants and often Landlords to properly assess needs in order to best sustain the accommodation option they move to. You will be confident in working with budget plans and have a working knowledge of household benefits and entitlements to enable tenants and create resilient and sustainable tenancies.
Having an understanding of local authority temporary accommodation and the duties that people are housed under will be an advantage. You should also have a good understanding of the needs of large families, complex need families and single homeless households and the wider support networks available in the city.
Please read our Apply for a job at the council (brighton-hove.gov.uk) pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview.
As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and upload a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process
