Mine Electrician/Craft Operative
Are you electrically qualified, with hands on experience in a production environment, and fancy something a bit different?
At British Gypsum we are looking for a Mine Electrician/Craft Operative, to work in a small, focussed, multi-disciplinary team, at our Mine in Barrow-Upon-Soar. You’ll participate in delivering continuous improvement projects as well as operating all of the underground equipment.
Your role will be critical in ensuring production targets are met, meaning an overall positive experience for our customers.
This role operates a 3 shift, staggered days pattern, which includes nights, and one weekend per month, with week 4 off.
What we’re looking for:
- You will have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship (or similar)
- Several years’ experience installing, testing, and maintaining electrical equipment
- Experience of electrical/electronic systems and associated Permits to Work would be an advantage
- An understanding of SCADA control systems would be helpful
- Experience of working with HV 3.3Kv
- Coming from a mining background would be advantageous but not essential
- Trained and competent with requirements of the Electricity at Work regulations
What you will be doing:
You will be accountable for your own and your colleagues’ health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard. You will be expected to have an analytical mind and be able to apply those skills to problem solving and decision making and be able to clearly communicate with others.
Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset, as well as both reactive and planned electrical maintenance work, there will be a need to operate the underground equipment to a high standard, alongside the mining and mechanical operatives.
When required you will install and test electrical equipment, both LV and HV.
The tasks in which you’ll apply the continuous improvement tools will involve all aspects of the mine equipment operation, to professional maintenance.
