Job description
Job Purpose:
To be responsible for planning, controlling and monitoring the purchase, intake and distribution of merchandise across the store estate, working across multi-seasons / countries, in order to maximise sales and margin within assigned departments of responsibility. Working closely with the Buying function and within their assigned merchandising team, core areas of responsibility are as follows:
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/ Actions:
- OTB management
- WSSI forecasting and Weekly inventory meetings
- Preparation and delivery of management information
- Trading and management of sales, stock and clearance in season
- Analyse historical and in season performance and be proactive in interpreting, communicating and acting on results
- Provide in depth analysis on any initiatives, and measure impact
- Have an input to strategic plans
- Action to drive sales
Range and Availability
- Ensure correct level of stock of active lines
- Develop range and Open to Buy plans, agreeing, setting and maintaining weekly desired store SKU count
- Monitor, update and report critical path progress throughout the effective life of a product to identify issues and risks and take appropriate action
- Ensure launch availability is delivered in line with seasonal launches
- Ensure stock is maintained at an optimum level by working on re-phasing and recommending cancellation, re-buy, delivering ‘on time’ availability
- Liaison with Supply Chain to advise on ETAs
- Identify & resolve issues to ensure smooth launch
- Analysis of data across team and measure performance and forecast as required
WSSI (Weekly stock & sales inventory)
- Ensure WSSI tool reflects most accurate trading position on Sales, Stock, Markdown, OTB and Margin.
- Reforecast WSSI in light of actual performance and updated information.
- Deliver financial KPI plan at department level (Sales, Stock, Markdown and Stock)
- Monitor and control OTB ensuring intake and commitment is accurate and strictly controlled and is in line with business expectations
- Monitor and manage flow of product to meet space and availability requirements
- Monitor stock targets every week in line with forecasted budget
- Review stock forecasts
- Discuss performance initiatives with relevant departments where necessary
Range Planning
- Range review of current performance to plan next season
- Break down to SKU level & develop line by line plan
- Work through plans with Buyers and Merchandise Planning Manager and agree sales and margins
- Work with buyers to compile range review and sign off packs
- Build in financials and submit forecast
- Agree Open to Buy documentation with Buyers
- Post trip reviews with Buyers
