Here at JD, the Merchandising team structure is organised into various departments. Each of the departments have a strong focus in certain areas, such as Apparel, Footwear and Accessories.
KEY DETAILS & PERKS OF THE PROGRAMME:
- Job Title – Merchandising Graduate
- Scheme – 2 Year Graduate Programme - commences September 2023
- Location – JD Sports HQ (Bury BL9 8RR)
- Hours – Monday – Friday 40 hours

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
As a Merchandising Graduate, you will rotate in the key areas of the Merchandising team to gain a holistic understanding. These include the Product Merchandising Team, Space Planning Team, Trading Merchandising Team, and Retail Teams/Stores:
Product Merchandising Team
Within the Product Merchandising team, you will have the opportunity to get involved in day-to-day tasks such as updating supplier order books, managing problem orders, and actioning stock movements, ensuring the correct stock is in the right place at the right time to maximise profitability across all channels.
Space Planning Team
Being a bricks and mortar business, space planning and getting the best use of the space we have in our stores is key to driving sales and profitability. Understanding how space planning links back to planning a range is critical for a merchandiser – within this rotation, will have the opportunity to see and participate in the start to finish process for space planning.
Trading Merchandising Team
Within this rotation you will assist the department with day-to-day tasks, to help maximise sales and profit. Working cross functionally across retail and marketing to ensure the best results are delivered. A highly analytical role seeking out opportunities to drive sales across our store estate in Europe.
Retail
In this rotation you will spend time in one of our retail stores to understand the operational aspect of how a store is run to assist your overall knowledge of Merchandising planning and trading. Stores are a key part of our business and understanding how we operate our stores to gain the best sales and profitability we can is crucial to a merchandiser. Our store estate is varied and each different type of store comes with its own challenges. Learning how you navigate that as a merchandiser is a key to our success story.
