Medicine Management and Dispensary Pharmacy Technician
We have an exciting opportunity for a Medicines Management & Dispensary Technician to join our Pharmacy team based at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 6BW, with a salary range of £33,061 – £42,955on offer, dependant on skills and experience.
The Pharmacy department at The London Clinic comprises of number of areas which work together to provide effective patient services and best possible outcomes for our patients.
The London Clinic’s Pharmacy Department are a close-knit team with around 45 staff members. The Pharmacy department comprises of 9 core services: On Call, Dispensary Services, Distribution and Top Up Service, Procurement, Clinical Ward Pharmacy Services, Provision of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Aseptic/Technical Services, Clinical Governanceand Education and Training.
We have extensive oncology services, including a purpose built chemotherapy aseptic compounding suite. As well as an automated medication dispensing system which supports decentralised medicine management in numerous wards.
Job Description
As a Medicines Management & Dispensary Technician you will participate in a safe, efficient and accurate, technician led pharmacy operational service across all sites at The London Clinic. This is a rotational post through Main Site Dispensary, Duchess of Devonshire (DDW) Cancer Services Dispensary, and MMT services. The post holder will ensure that the Dispensary, MMT and Ward services are delivered in a safe, effective, economic and timely manner.
Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
Shifts: Monday to Sunday 8.30am to 7.30pm as rostered.
Location: The London Clinic Main Hospital 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW.
Salary: £33,061 – £42,955 inclusive per annum, based on skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Operational Manager- Medicine Management and Education and Training and ward pharmacists in managing and expanding efficient, accurate and flexible near patient service to the hospital wards.
- Perform Medicine Management duties in allocated wards, i.e., assessing of Patients Own Drugs (on attaining the training if not already trained), drug history taking of new patients; near patient dispensing, discharge facilitation with counselling services, ordering of inpatient and one stop medicines (transcribing for supply) and annotating of drug charts (according to departmental policies). These activities will be supervised and performance assessments will be carried out until the candidate completes training and competencies.
- Assist the ward pharmacists in providing a comprehensive patient counselling service to in-patients, particularly regarding their discharge medication.
- Assist ward pharmacists and NMPs by providing advanced medicine optimisation with clinical prioritisation (on attaining the qualification).
Skills & Experience
- NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 with accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and the Practice of Pharmacy Technicians) or Equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
- Portfolio demonstrating competence of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge and CPD
- Experience of stock management
- Experience of patient counselling on their medication
