About The Role
As a Specification Technologist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and managing product specifications, ensuring they adhere to industry regulations and meet our internal standards. Your expertise will be essential in guaranteeing the accuracy and completeness of all technical documentation, thereby contributing to the smooth and efficient production of our exceptional products.
You will support suppliers in compiling, editing and maintaining high quality ingredient, product, consumer information and packaging specifications in a timely manner, also addressing their issues and ensuring that delays are kept to a minimum. By reviewing specifications submitted by suppliers, you will ensure products that are safe, legal and in compliance with Harrods Brand Standards.
About You
You will be a valuable team player with ideally a Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or related field. You have proven experience in specification management and in-depth knowledge of food processing and legislation to produce information which complies with legal and customer requirements.
You must be proficient at understanding current and emerging legislation related to food labelling, F.I.R legislation, Natasha’s Law and allergens and apply these to the product knowledge and finally the specification. Additionally, you are familiar with various data sources to ensure accuracy and consistency of data. i.e. Nutricalc, McCance & Widdowson, USDA Nutritional Database and web-based sources.
You’ll have great time-management skills and a strong customer focus when dealing with both internal and external parties. You’ll have exceptional communicational and interpersonal skills as you will be interacting with other business areas in your day to day. You’ll have good analytical skills and with excellent attention to detail. Having solid PC skills is a must, being particularly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with auditing would also be advantageous.
