Based in an office environment as part of a small team, you’ll lead our ready mix concrete distribution team; working with our customers and transport teams via telephone and email to coordinate delivery our readymix products. You’ll drive the highest standards of customer service ensuring we deliver on our promises, whilst optimising commercial performance.
Working for the largest independent construction materials business in the UK and Ireland, you won’t be restricted by lots of red tape; you will have the opportunity to engage with your customers, truly getting to know them.
Key Responsibilities
Right product. Right place. Right time.
- Engage with production teams to respond to changes in the plan (caused by customer circumstance, production schedules, etc), proactively communicating with customers to make them aware and re-arrange where appropriate. Plan to resolve shortfalls in capacity maximise customer satisfaction by proactively managing variances to the plan by coordinating with Production, Transport and the customer.
- Implement and embed changes to ways of working in line with Customer & Commercial Excellence initiatives.
- Build and optimise the distribution plan that enables product delivery to meet customer need – liaising with the Customer Services Manager, your team and across Operations and Transport teams to do so.
- Proactively review performance KPIs (e.g. Plan adherence) to drive performance in customer experience and distribution efficiency.
- Plan optimal distribution of available transport, proactively seeking opportunities to maximise utilisation of core fleet and reduce contract costs.
- Ensure customer orders are input accurately and in line with Sales Office quotations ensuring that information is accurately captured within Breedon’s systems.
- Work in partnership with the Transport team to provide feedback on fleet availability and anticipated future needs.

- The ability to effectively identify and solve problems to deliver excellent customer service and improve processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate across teams, with stakeholders and senior management.
- Strong attention to detail and a right first time attitude.
If you have existing experience or knowledge of the construction materials industry, great, however for us that’s not the be all and end all!
