Medical Secretary for Private Practice - part time
May 2023 with some flexibility
15 hours/week, in 3 days – or other hours on discussion
Two Medical Consultants are looking for a Medical Secretary to assist with their Private Practice. This is a varied job shared with one other Medical Secretary/Office Manager. You will need to be able to work independently but enjoy interacting with patients and other healthcare professionals by phone. The subspecialties covered are Eye Surgery and Plastic Surgery including cancer reconstruction.
The position will start ideally in mid-May, but flexibility would be possible for the right candidate.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Telephone calls with patients, healthcare workers and companies
Handle complex queries
Maintain and update the computerised patient database and administration system
Store, file and up-date medical notes
Process referral letters and make appointments
Prepare and send correspondence
Raise and send invoices, record payments and keep accounts
Followup outstanding payments
Order and maintain banks of medical supplies, devices and equipment
Manage resources, stock levels and petty cash
PERSONAL SKILLS & QUALITIES
GCSE/O’level English and Maths
Word processing skills, knowledge of databases and spreadsheets
Medical Secretarial and administrative experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Polite and courteous manner
Positive and flexible approach to work
Accuracy and attention to detail
Well organised with the ability to prioritise and multi-task
Initiative and problem solving skills
Non-smoker
THE POST
15 hours per week, including 10am-2pm on 3 days.
Based in a self-contained office in the Consultants’ house in Fulham, London, SW6 (very close to Putney Bridge tube and bus station). Kitchen/dining and bath/shower facilities available.
Salary pro rata appropriate for experience payable monthly into your bank account
