Meta AI is seeking interns to join its Perception team at AI for AR/VR to work on innovative problems that would power the next generation product and platforms at scale. The problems range from various research domains and require pushing SOTA research for help building the future of AR/VR. Our team is looking for candidates with expertise in the Computer Vision & Multimodality domain, such as activity recognition, object recognition, scene understanding, text recognition, egocentric vision, multi-sensor fusion, vision-language, 3d modeling, representation learning, virtual content generation, recommendation and integrity, to push the state-of-the-art We are proposing Summer, Fall, and Winter start dates. Research Scientist Intern, AI Applied Computer Vision- Perception (PhD) Responsibilities:
- Develop novel state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms and corresponding systems, leveraging various deep learning techniques
- Contribute to research that can eventually be applied to Facebook product and run on billions of media items every day
- Based on the project, help analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of corresponding deployed algorithms
- Collaborate with team members, all the way from prototyping in a notebook to potentially deploying at scale
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the domain of Computer Vision or related field
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Experience in Python
- Research and/or work experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or computer vision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
- Prior experience with deep learning frameworks
- Some experience in NLP nice to have but not required
- Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
- Comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
- Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at workshops or top AI conferences.
- Ability to communicate complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
- A strong interest in theoretical and empirical research and for answering hard questions with research
- Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Ability to stay in touch with the literature of a particular domain and has the ability to reproduce results if needed
- Prior experience in activity recognition, object recognition, text recognition, egocentric vision, multi-sensor fusion, vision-language, representation learning, 3D generation, integrity, or related domains
