Job description
We are a friendly and very busy NHS GP Practice in Heaton, Bolton. We are looking for a Part Time Medical Receptionist to work with us at the practice. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of working in a busy GP practice and will project a positive, friendly image when dealing with patients at the surgery and on the phone.
Working pattern
M - OFF
T - 12.30pm - 6.30pm
W - 12.30pm - 6.30pm
T - 12.30pm - 6.30pm
F - 12.30pm - 6.30pm
Total 24 hours
Reception/Admin Duties:
- General medical reception duties such as greeting patients, booking appointments and dealing with queries
- Answering phone calls
- Actioning tasks received from clinical staff
- Administrative and clerical support to clinical and management team
- Monitor and respond to emails on the generic practice account
- Liaise with external parties such as secondary care, community teams and care homes
- Direct patients to appropriate services
- Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Dealing with all requests in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Screening enquiries for the doctors and medical staff
- Registering new patients at the surgery
- Explaining the practice procedures to new patients
- Accurately collecting information and personal details about patients
- Updating the surgeries computer system with appointments and personal details
- Receiving urine and blood samples and sending them off to hospital laboratories
- Chasing up appointments for patients with hospitals or with other healthcare professionals
- Contacting patients to pass on test results /messages to patients as instructed by medical professionals
- Arranging prescriptions for patients
- Maintaining a clean reception and waiting area to show a professional image
- Writing letters and correspondence on behalf of the surgery and medical staff
- Covering colleagues during times of annual leave
The above list is not exhaustive, and other reception/admin duties would be required as needed by the practice.
Other Requirements
Essential Flexibility to work outside of core office hours and cover sickness/holidays at short notice
DBS check (This can be arranged by surgery)
