Biochemistry Medical Laboratory Assistant Band 3 Leighton Hospital Permanent The post will be based in Leighton Hospital. This is an interesting and important job, previous experience in this field is not essential as full training is given University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country. To support the scientific & technical work of qualified staff in the Biochemistry Department, ensuring that all procedures are undertaken according to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and the policies and procedures of the department, especially in relation to Health & Safety and Quality. To ensure that all specimens are processed according to laboratory procedures and to error log all deviations or non compliances in accordance with the laboratory quality system. To use laboratory equipment under supervision and ensure it is maintained correctly. To work on the late shift rota and to undertake pre-analytical, analytical & post analytical duties under supervision of a BMS or Associate Practitioner to ensure a 24 hour laboratory service. To undertake data entry of patient & diagnostic information using the Trust & laboratory IT systems The main base will be as above, but work may be required at any site within NMCPS The University Hospital of North Midlands, Mid Cheshire and East Cheshire NHS Trusts are working collaboratively to form a Pathology network in line with a NHSI directive.
