Position Overview:
The Medical Education Lead is a member of the Global Medical Affairs team and International cross-functional product launch team, with a dedicated focus on Medical Education activities directed at Health Care Professionals, primarily related to the soon to be or newly launched Insulet products across international markets, and secondarily related to products already on the market. With this newly created role, the person can own and take Medical Education to the next level at Insulet, by establishing and executing the international and regional education strategy and tactics that provide comprehensive, blended education offerings to Health Care Professionals (digital and in-person),. Responsibilities include strategy and tactics, content of trainings, and direct involvement in the delivery of trainings. This role works closely with Global and in-country Medical Affair colleagues, as well as marketing, to lead the development of robust Medical Education plans and execute them with excellence. Another key component of the role is to support the Internal training and sales excellence team as a content provider, and sometimes trainer themselves. They will have and maintain an in-depth understanding of diabetes, the current and future treatment landscape along with ongoing clinical research with a focus on the diabetes device market.
Responsibilities:
  • Works with Business and Marketing Teams to identify medical education learning needs and priorities.
  • Develops the strategy and content of International HCP education program and materials (webinars, peer-to-peer).
  • Builds effective training and skills-based peer-to-peer medical education programs that are aligned with corporate and product marketing strategy. Delivers occasionally some of these training programs.
  • Designs and facilitates development of customized medical education programs to support our healthcare customers in their learning pathway from awareness to product adoption.
  • Innovates on medical education delivery models to meet the changing customer needs and expectations for industry-led education.
  • Develops, fosters, and maintains relationships with HCP’s and thought leaders in the field of Diabetes technology and education, such as physicians (endocrinologists, diabetologists, paediatricians...), nurses, researchers, and educators across the healthcare continuum.
  • Provides content to the international Internal training programs and delivers some of these trainings directed at sales and field teams
  • Leads the execution of symposiums at international congresses.
  • Supports in-country medical affairs leads with strategy and content development and delivery as needed of the local/national medical education programs, symposiums, and congresses
  • Assures and supports the logistics related to MedEd courses including registrations, course information and post-course evaluation data analysis and reporting.
  • Measures, tracks and reports impact of MedEd programs
  • Creates and updates education content that reflects on-label, evidence based, best-practice use of Insulet products.
  • Ensures that Medical Education activities are always conducted in a compliant manner by working closely with the local compliance officer at all times.
  • Contributes actively to the Global and International Medical Affairs teams and cross-functional product launch planning teams.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organisation and its products, current scientific research, and publications
  • Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience:
  • 5 or more years of relevant Medical Education experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry or clinical settings
  • Expertise in adult education theory, best practices, and delivery model. Ability to develop innovative, impactful presentations and learning content.
  • Required In-depth understanding of the Type 1 diabetes disease state, diabetes clinical decision making, the current/future treatment landscape, guidelines recommendations, and ongoing clinical trials/research
  • Knowledge of the medical device industry, including relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives
  • MD, PharmD, PhD or MS in life science /or an equivalent combination of education or experience
Skills/Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, other languages (German, French) would be an asset.
  • Engaging and dynamic presenter of often complex and/or clinical information to internal and external audiences of various sizes.
  • A self-starter with strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and work in a challenging, agile, cross-functional environment
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
  • Location: Preferably UK, Germany, Netherlands, or France
  • This role will involve frequent travel throughout Europe and internationally
