Outpatient Health Information Management Coder
Remote Position - Work from Home!
We are looking for a Coder who is responsible for coding of outpatient records utilizing current ICD-10CM and CPT-4 classification systems. Code selection is based on established coding principles and guidelines in a manner which supports general billing and provides for appropriate extraction of data used by committees and individual members of the medical staff, other hospital departments and researchers. Data entry, database maintenance, and retrieval of information from reports and indices are ongoing responsibilities. The incumbent may also be trained to complete one or more of the specialty tasks assigned to the coding section such as data control or reporting to legally mandated registries. As a representative of the most highly trained technical staff in the Health Information Management Department, this team member may also be called upon to work on special studies with the Director as delegated through the Clinical Reimbursement Manager.

- College Diploma preferred.
- Medical coding experience required.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS, CCS-P or CPC) certification required.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred with current CCS, CCS-P or CPC certification.
- Selects and codes diagnoses and procedures from outpatient records.
- Keys information into the ABS and Grouper systems.
- Performs specialty tasks assigned to the Coding Section involving screening and reporting of data to medical staff committees and legally mandated registries.
- Meets productivity goals and organizes varied tasks assigned in a manner that assures deadlines are met.
- Works on special studies with Director as delegated through the Clinical Reimbursement Manager
