The Outpatient Hematology/Oncology department at Rady Children's is looking for a Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant. This position requires a phlebotomy (CPT) license and MA certification and flexible hours, Monday through Friday
JOB SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of specimen collections on children, both inpatients and outpatients, specimen processing, referral test analysis, preparation and shipping, registration and lab test order entry, hospital/departmental computer procedures, Microbiology specimen processing and departmental instrument maintenance. Under the direct supervision of an RN/licensed practitioner, the Phlebotomist/MAs are responsible for providing and documenting nursing care for patients and associated tasks as delegated by the RN/licensed practitioner. It is the role of these assistant employees to partner with RN/licensed practitioner and other team members to provide optimal patient care. These employees follow through with care as directed utilizing established policies, procedures and guidelines.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- This is a dual role that requires both an MA certificate and Phlebotomist (CPT) license.

- Flexible schedule and frequent availability for this per diem role.
POSITION DETAILS:
Schedule: Days, 8-hour shifts
FTE: Per Diem, Monday through Friday
Location: Main Campus - Outpatient Hem/Onc
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
1 year of experience
California Licensure Phlebotomy Technician with at least 1 year of Phlebotomy experience
A Medical Assistant (MA) graduate with at least 6 months of Medical Assistant experience
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree
2 Years of Experience
Bilingual - Spanish
The current salary range for this position is $21.76 to $32.31.
A candidate’s placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
