NextCare Urgent Care is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist (Medical Front Office Receptionist) that likes the challenge of a fast pace setting and working in a team environment. Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist (Medical Front Office Receptionist) is a dual role of being the first point of contact for patients in the clinic while supporting front office functions, as well as caring for patients in a Medical Assistant capacity while supporting back office functions.
The Patient Service Specialist keeps patients and families informed of wait times, monitors the flow of patients, processes patients for discharge including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining all necessary signatures and issuing receipts.
The Medical Assistant performs patient care duties under the Medical Assistant scope of practice in the urgent care setting.

The Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist (Medical Front Office Receptionist) supports the organization with customer service and treating all of our patients with respect and dignity. They ensure the clinic and front reception area is running smoothly and patient flow at the optimum, as well as provide patient care services in the back office medical setting, which will meet the specific needs of the patient.
Essential Education, Experience and Skills:
Candidates in Arizona
Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; and
1. The medical assistant candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant Training Program*.
- Certification is not required but is preferred.
“Approved medical assistant training program,” means a program accredited by one of the following two-accreditation organizations:
- The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health; or
- The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); or
2. The medical assistant candidate has completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
- Certification* is required.
Successfully passes the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by either the following two agencies:
- National Commission for Certifying Agencies; or
- American National Standards Institute
Certifying organizations accepted in Arizona are:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who have completed the AMT criteria; or
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA)-administers the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification
3. The medical assistant candidate is eligible for hire if they meet one of the following three (3) criteria within A., or B., or C
A. The medical assistant candidate completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
- Was Employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion must have occurred prior to February 2, 2000,*; or
(Candidates must complete the Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation)
B. The medical assistant candidate was directly supervised by the SAME physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours (approximately working 40 hours/week for 12 months) prior to February 2, 2000,* ; or
(Candidates must complete the Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation)
C. The medical assistant completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training program*.
(Candidates must complete the Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation)
Employed in all states other than Arizona
Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; and

- American National Standards Institute; or
Certifying organizations accepted are:

C. The medical assistant completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training program*.
