Brookline College is looking for either a Phlebotomist or a Medical Assistant with back-office experience for a full-time position as an Instructor/Externship Coordinator
Come be part of the ever-growing Brookline family in Tucson. No formal teaching experience is required, however, experience training, precepting, and mentoring are highly preferred.
The Instructor-Externship Coordinator is both an instructor and a coordinator of externship course processes.
As a faculty member, the Instructor-Externship Coordinator teaches in discipline areas with specific training and competence.
The Instructor-Externship Coordinator prepares students to transition from the classroom to the final externship course.
The Instructor-Externship Coordinator guides students to meet their career goals by coordinating externship course activities such as student orientation, scheduling, and networking with local site partners to establish relationships and build rapport.
The Instructor-Externship Coordinator partners with the College career services staff to build externship locations and conduct outreach to potential employers.

TEACHING
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the assigned occupational field or discipline and form connections between subject matter with related field(s).
Participate in professional development, professional organizations, and professional meetings, conferences, or workshops to remain current in occupational field or discipline
Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning using instructional technology, diverse teaching methodology, and approved lesson plans.
Encourage the development of communication and higher-order thinking skills through use of Bloom’s Taxonomy and learning assignments.
Use of program goals and course objectives to measure student learning.
Provide timely feedback of formative and summative assessment.
Maintain accurate student records (attendance and competency forms) and enter student grades to the learning management system according to established deadlines.
Demonstrate sensitivity to student learning needs.
Maintain confidentiality of student information and partner with the appropriate academic leader(s) to resolve student challenges
Participate in faculty meetings.
Other duties as assigned
EXTERNSHIP COURSE MANAGEMENT
Partner with the career service teams to match students to clinical sites that lead to externship-to-hire.
Conduct ongoing outreach to potential employers to build externship opportunities, develop and enhance work relationships, and facilitate student placement.
Provide externship orientation to extern site supervisors and students.
Determine the quality of learning opportunities and appropriateness of each externship site/clinic/medical office.
Supervise externship to comply with accreditation standards and College policy.
Monitor student externship course attendance to ensure all required externship hours are fulfilled.
Visit all externship sites during externship courses in a cadence outlined in the standards of accreditation.
Oversee the collection of surveys regarding the externship course:
Employer survey of externship process
Student survey of the site
Graduate survey
Act as externship liaison for the College and problem-solve challenges that arise before, during, or after the externship course.
Use technology and academic reports to manage the externship course.
Submit, timely, all required externship-related reports and forms to the academic manager and or career services teams.
Maintain student records of attendance and skills check-off forms.
Actively engage in retention activities—document communication with students and externship sites.
Participate in and manage career fairs.
Adhere to and publicly support College policies and procedures.
Minimum of a high school diploma; associate degree preferred.Three (3) years of clinical experience in the specialty field
Demonstrable expertise in academic specialty field.
Ability to mentor a highly diverse student population.
Ability to work independently.
Proficient in interpersonal oral presentation and excellent communication skills.
