Our well-established OB-GYN practice in Buckhead, GA is looking for certified or registered medical assistants to join our team for clinical back-office duties. We are an organization with 4 private OB-GYN practices and centralized mammography and ultrasound suites on the campus of Piedmont Hospital.

The Certified or Registered Medical Assistant performs clinical, back-office duties with the healthcare providers. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. Certified medical assistants will assist the physicians in the diagnostic testing, examination, education, and treatment of patients. CMAs typically work with one provider, but may need to float or provide cross-coverage at times.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday, with on-site work in Buckhead, GA. Work hours are from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities include:

  • Assists physician with prepping schedule and rooms for daily patients.
  • Takes patients to examining rooms to prepare them for the physician.
  • Takes detailed medical histories, determines the reason for the visit, and measures patient vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Records patient's medical history or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures by laying instruments and needed supplies.
  • Keeps physician rooms clean and stocked.
  • Presents patient history summary to physician and alerts physicians to patient changes.
  • Pulls lab charts, and annotates patient charts with exam and treatment results.
  • Assists with in-office examinations and medical procedures including LEEP procedures, IUD insertion, colposcopies, among others.
  • Helps physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
  • Coordinates patient tests and follow-up care. Schedules surgeries, calling surgical center, verifying times with patients, and preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms.
  • Schedules patients with other doctors for consultation as required.
  • Counsels patients in the office and on the phone concerning treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Authorizes drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Cleans and sterilize instruments, preps instruments for autoclave, and disposes of contaminated supplies.
  • Prepares and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Performs routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
  • Operates equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
  • As needed, contacts medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.
  • As needed, inventories and orders medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
  • Other back-office duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Knowledge of clinical obstetrics and gynecological back-office procedures.
  • Knowledge and correct usage of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of OB and GYN vaccinations and vaccination schedules.
  • Knowledge of general back-office medical assistant duties and responsibilities.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, and the public.
  • Skilled in organization, attention to detail, and task prioritization.
  • Skilled in understanding patient needs to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Skilled in phlebotomy techniques.
  • Ability to navigate and effectively use EMR.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate in writing, over the telephone, and in person with physicians, office staff, and patients.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and promote a positive work environment.
  • Ability to complete continued education/training requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma (or GED) required.
  • Must have current medical assistant certification or registration, and have ability to maintain certification or registration.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of periods of standing and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15-25 pounds at times.
  • Must have full range of body motion.

Other Requirements:

  • Current COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required.
  • Pre-employment background check, drug screening, and previous employment checks required.
