Summary of the Mechanical Technician role
As the Mechanical Technician you will carry out maintenance work on site and provide first hand technical diagnosis and correction of maintenance problems to maintain the assets and site in a safe and efficient operational condition.
You will work without technical supervision, planning, prioritising and coordinating work.
This role is a day shift role and will work Monday-Friday 37.5 hours per week.
Your responsibilities
- Carrying out mechanical repairs, modifications, plant upgrades and installation.
- Carrying out assigned SAP transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Carrying out small pipework modifications.
- Conducting troubleshooting and diagnostic checks on mechanical and process equipment, recommending changes and improvements to operational systems.
- Accepting and handing back Permit to Works (PTWs).
- Ensuring work is carried out in a compliant manner, in line with cGMP standards.
- Performing inspections and implementing preventative maintenance tasks.
- Communicating, liaising and co-ordinating work activities with contractors, suppliers and service providers.

Requirements for the role
- Recognised qualifications within a core discipline relating to the role.
- Ideally holding a minimum of ONC or equivalent.
- Proficient with hand tools, workshop equipment and lifting equipment.
- Previous experience within the chemistry industry would be preferred.
- Experience working with risk assessment and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX is essential.
- Ability to comfortably work unsupervised.
- Must have good problem solving and diagnostic skills.
