We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Lead to join our Slough based operations team on a permanent basis. (This is an onsite position)
Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the gas seal test rigs and associated plant and equipment is maintained to maximise up time and optimise performance.
We will look for you to ensure maintenance safety and environmental standards are kept to a high level across the site and that all maintenance, planned and reactive, are carried out in a safe, timely and efficient manner. In addition, you will ensure all aspects of planned maintenance work orders and technical planning is delivered, this includes spare parts planning for planned work to minimise Average Working Capital and optimise Mean Time To Repair.
Our team will look for you to display a real passion for everything relating to maintenance but also for you to demonstrate a skill for working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders ensuring that we efficiently and safely deliver our maintenance strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for gas seal production test rigs and associated plant and equipment.
- Perform reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities in a safe, timely and efficient manner to ensure the optimum equipment performance.
- Generate maintenance work orders and performance reports using the eMaint software.
- Generate and update HSE and quality risk assessments, processes, procedures, and status reports. Participate in audits and HSE reviews when required.
- Generate and update training programmes/records for the maintenance team.
- Support other maintenance work when required.
- Provide first line supervision to on site contractors activities
- Support and drive SES (Smiths Excellence System) activities within the area.

The Individual
- Apprenticeship trained (ideally, with a minimum HNC qualification) with a good understanding of engineering concepts.
- Experience maintaining the following products, or similar, will be beneficial: actuators, valves, pumps, compressors, general rotating equipment (anything involving fluid or pressure) and supervising a maintenance team.
- Qualified to work on high pressure (air) equipment and piping.
- Experienced in reading technical, P&ID drawings and fault diagnoses.
- Experience in supervising contractors and their activities on site. Ensure their appropriate documentation and permits are valid and correct.
- Attention to detail and the ability to build good relationships.
- A resource-oriented person with an innovative mind and focused on deadlines and targets.
- Experience of project management, the ability to plan in detail tasks to fit within the overall product development timelines.
