Project Overview:
The work of Focal Point Positioning is driven by data and we want to expand and deepen the relationships we have with those who collect that data. One of the ways we can do this is to provide useful and interesting feedback to our data collection volunteers. This internship will involve building relationships with external athletes and recreational sportspeople, organising data collection sessions, and boosting volunteer engagement.
You will work with our machine learning team to derive interesting and meaningful outputs for walkers and runners, and help drive engagement through creating and presenting insightful metrics and data visualisations.
Your Experience
We are looking for students in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Sports Science, who are keen to start gaining experience in the industry, and have:

Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for engineering and technology
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time
The following experience is also desirable:

An interest in hiking or long distance running
- An interest in sports science and the application of modern smart devices (phone/watch) to the area
- Python coding
- Data visualisation (e.g. plotly, matplotlib, seaborn.)
- Collaborating and working in outreach, community groups or similar
Your Development and Perks

This is a paid internship depending on your year of study and remuneration ranges from £300 per week for first year students to £450 per week for fourth year students
- Feedback sessions, knowledge-sharing and cross-training will be an integral part of your internship programme
- You will have the opportunity to work from home but also be required to attend our office in Cambridge or Bristol as part of your development
