Covering the full project lifecycle from Feasibility through to Decommissioning, we are looking for Principal Mechanical Machinery Engineer with experience in the Oil & Gas; Nuclear; Power Generation and Gas Networks Sectors.
As Principal Machinery Engineer you will be leading the Mechanical Discipline Engineering effort across a range of diverse projects. Costain is positioning itself to become a key player in the transition to green and sustainable energy solutions. Our new projects involve Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Generation technologies and include Storage and Distribution from early Scoping and Concept through to FEED, Detail Design, Construction and Commissioning. Responsible for the technical content and delivery of Rotating Equipment and Package Plant deliverables on any given project.
Responsible for the checking and approval of design work in accordance with Company Procedures.
To plan for adequate resources and to monitor and report design progress in line with the project schedule (SPI) and hours spent against earned value (CPI).
To liaise and coordinate with other disciplines as required.
To cascade information to individuals on organisational performance, policy, and procedures and to report back to the Discipline Manager comments and recommendations for continuous improvements in performance and removal of constraints.
To offer advice and support to colleagues and subordinates on personal and career development.
Provide training, information, or instruction and to give feedback. To set objectives, to assist colleagues and subordinates in achieving objectives.
To be aware of legal and organisational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety Sustainability and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are all managed in accordance with Company policy and client requirements.
A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering discipline.
Chartered Engineer and/or 10 years’ experience in this specialist discipline.
Technical Experience:
Significant Machinery Engineering experience within the Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Energy sectors with a particular emphasis in large Gas Compressors and Pumps
Extensive knowledge of Applicable Machinery Engineering Design Standards and Codes.
Competence in the requirements for CDM Principal Designer roles and duties
Experience in the requirements for CA marking of plant and equipment.
Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and of HSE requirements
Personal Specification:
Team Player with excellent communication skills and proactive in engaging with colleagues and relevant stakeholders
