About the role
The position will sit within our Engineering team, where you will be carrying out plant maintenance, installation and modifications. Assist in maintaining the plant to the required legislative requirements and standards. Rectify equipment failure taking into consideration potentially hazardous working conditions associated with a process chemical environment. Working within set timeframes and as a team.
Key responsibilities
Undertake sole responsibility for engineering decisions deciding the best course of action when called in outside of core hours escalating to line management when necessary.
Participate in a call-out system to provide maintenance support 24 hours a day throughout 365 days of the year.
Working in a safe manner, maintain all plant and service equipment to a schedule reducing the risk of premature failure during production hours, ensuring site legal compliance.
Implement plant modifications to accommodate changes in processing procedures and new technology / techniques to provide increased capacity or to meet environmental requirements.
Understand equipment failure mode to determine root-cause and to suggest solutions to prevent future recurrence, while ensuring equipment failure is resolved swiftly minimising the impact on production.
Design and manufacture components for obsolete capital equipment to improve performance, extend the service life of plant assets and reduce the impact on the engineering budget.
About you
The successful candidate will ideally have experienced gained from formal training (City & Guilds/NVQ 3 in an engineering discipline), accompanied with practical experience of the following: Manual metal arc, MIG, TIG and oxyacetylene welding, steel pipe fitting, turning, milling, strip-down and refurbishment of pumps, gearboxes, drive units and meters, hydraulic systems, motors and actuators, pneumatic cylinders, actuators and control systems, disconnection and reconnection of single and three-phase motors, steam boilers, liquid phase process heaters, air compressors, cooling or chilled water systems and demineralised water systems and Control systems for fault finding and rectification.
Salary & benefits: The salary for the position will be in the range of £26,000.00 - £32,000.00 per annum (dependent upon experience). In addition to your salary, you will also be included into our company bonus scheme (Group Staff Bonus & Profit Performance Bonus). Pension: We offer a generous contribution to your pension and dependant on your monthly commitment, we will contribute up to a maximum of 2x your contribution up to a maximum of 10%.
