The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Mechanical inspector into the Ironmaking area at our Port Talbot site. You will play an integral part in supporting the overall maintenance of existing equipment and the development/installation of new equipment. From a personal point of view, you will have an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Carrying out maintenance inspection and feedback in an SAP system. Review and refine inspection regime
- Assist and carry out where appropriate the failure analyses and implement practical cost effective solutions. A key part of your role will be to actively participate in and implement solutions generated via problem solving activity with a wide range of other personnel as appropriate
- Feed detail into the Engineering planning process, including the sourcing of spares and materials. Execute activities within the plan linked to the ownership and return the asset fully commissioned and free from breakdown
- To follow and drive the habits developed through Sustainable Operational Excellence and Asset Maintenance Optimisation by means of working to standards, being responsible to agreed actions and being active at daily meetings
The Candidate
The Mechanical Engineering Inspector must hold a recognised Engineering Qualification (e.g. Apprenticeship) and have experience and knowledge of the plant area and equipment for which they wish to be considered. A sound working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous, as would experience and knowledge of operating safe systems of work and of the permitry involved.
You will be required to show good communication skills and be able to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels. A flexible approach to working would be required to enable the role to be executed effectively in line with plant shutdown periods and other special events.
