Organization & Role
The Teradyne Platform Mechanical Engineering team is seeking a driven Mechanical Engineer to contribute to a dynamic, cross-functional group that develops creative solutions to complex component and system level mechanical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, select and defend technical solutions to complex and highly integrated mechanical engineering problems.
- Execute new machine and equipment designs from concept to volume production at the subsystem, and system level.
- Develop complex, high density electronics packaging, including specialized interconnect and contact technologies.
- Define, direct, and participate in the design verification testing of design solutions.
- Understanding customer requirements and finding solutions that fit within our existing mechanical product architecture.
- Must be able to generate mechanical design and documentation of components and assemblies, including generating complete detailed drawings of piece parts and assemblies.
- Update and complete engineering change orders using Agile and Teamcenter.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Understand the use of PDM and CAD vaulting tools.
- Experience working with electro-mechanical packaging layout and design.
- Knowledge of fabrication technologies such as machining, sheet metal, casting, molding, PCBA assembly, necessary.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of general drafting and design standards including ANSI Y14.5 and GD & T.
- Strong analytical skills including finite element modeling and tolerance analysis.
- Comfortable working with basic shop tools and prototypes.
- Self-starter, able to work independently or on a team.
- Excellent communication, hands-on and spatial skills.
- Ability to work across cultures and geographies to produce results.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a mechanical design engineer
- Must be available to commute to and work on site at our Deer Park, IL office.
Education
- BS or MS in mechanical engineering, or related field from an engineering institution.
