The Job:
To create mechanical design solutions in line with the company’s business needs through innovation, creativity and professionalism.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Design and development of new press tooling, part holding, jigs, fixtures, lifting and handling solutions, ensuring they are on time and to budget.
- Contribute to design review and change management and release of new designs.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and creation of fully toleranced mechanical drawings and general arrangement drawings to ISO standards using 3D CAD.
- Use of PTC Creo preferable. (If individual is able to transfer over from another package this would be considered).
- Working through meeting outputs to develop concepts, models, drawings and specifications.
- Build and test prototypes to confirm they meet the design requirements of customers, engineering, operators, production layouts, utilities, productivity, safety and ergonomics.
General accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Ensure all engineering activities and projects are documented and compliant with the company quality, HSE and Environmental policy and that designs comply with internationally recognised standards
- Establish effective working relationships across the technical teams and with the manufacturing team.
- Use personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in day to day activities and procedures within the specified role.
- To maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of, all relevant IT (Information and Technology) and other systems required to adequately perform the role.
- Lead projects from the production team, seek and promote positive, impactful change.
- Supporting, driving, and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Knowledge and use of Lean Tools, problem solving and implementing continuous improvements, 6S, root cause investigations and new product development.
