AECOM are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our established and ever-growing Nuclear Team in our Warrington office, situated on Birchwood Park.

We are looking for individuals who can apply their skills independently and as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to complete turn-key solutions.

In addition, Senior Mechanical Engineer duties, you will be required to both manage more junior staff and project report on their packages of work.

Additional responsibilities may include the client interface, preparation of bids and proposals and then managing the delivery of the projects in accordance with AECOM’s quality, safety and environmental procedures.

This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Power & Decommissioning team with an interesting and expanding pipeline of both international and UK based projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Participate in design reviews at all project phases.
  • Produce manufacturing documentation including: 2D part, fabrication and assembly drawings, factory acceptance tests, method statements and operation, maintenance and installation manuals.
  • Detail design generation including: 3D detail models, detail functional calculations, detail design risk assessments, directive compliance assessments.
  • Support and guide junior team members when required.
  • Highlight (at the earliest opportunity) when a task will not be completed to a previously agreed timescale.
  • Identify and report potential & actual changes on projects.
  • Ensure that HSE legislation is applied at a project level
  • Provide input to QA audits as appropriate.
  • Report non-conformities, incidents and observations through the appropriate systems.

Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent institute.
  • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.
  • Current experience working in a post where design was a major part of the role.
  • Previous experience in the design and delivery of complex, high specification packaged systems.
  • Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated application field.
  • Have a working knowledge of appropriate nuclear standards and specifications as well as general engineering standards.
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of:
  • Handling and manipulation of fissile materials in complex equipment and process systems
  • 3D CAD systems and associated data management systems
  • Able to demonstrate good knowledge and experience in producing and having input to; Mechanical hand sketches; 3D scheme models; Functional calculations; Design risk assessments; Directive compliance assessments; Commissioning activities; Post project review meetings.
