Position overview:
As a Mechanic you will play a key part in the part of the can making process that helps to protect the product. You will run and maintain machinery and equipment in the internal spray process, ensuring quality specifications are met while delivering budget KPI’s for the area.
Key responsibilities include:
- Fault finding and regular preventative maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all Quality checks and start up sheets are complete, as well as other routine paperwork and checks, conducting audits and reacting to any quality deviations in a timely manner.
- Ensure that proper and safe systems of working and means of avoiding dangerous, or potentially hazardous conditions, are adopted.
- Ensure operational control procedures, regulations, or codes of practice are observed within the plant and that all registers, records and reports are properly prepared and maintained.
- Communicating effectively with the Team Leader and relevant colleagues in the team.
- Ensuring housekeeping is maintained to the required standards.
- Utilisation of live data (real time indicators) to prevent quality deviations and line downtime
- Material and machine part changeovers
- React to line spoilage, identify losses and put in place improvements
- Handover compilation and communication to colleagues using line logbooks
Experience and skills required:
- Manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume environment
- Apprenticeship in a Mechanical discipline (and Engineering qualification would be desirable).
- Sound communication skills, ability to clearly explain processes and interpret data accurately.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
