Wood Plc
Full Time Glasgow, Scotland 30000 - 53373 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is recruiting for a Measurement Engineer to join its Asset Management and Operational Services (AMOS) group within our Renewables division based in Glasgow.

The role will be based at the Glasgow office with on-site working across the UK and internationally both onshore and offshore as required.

Join a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients.

The Role
We are seeking a Measurement Engineer to join our team. As a Measurement Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, commissioning, and reporting on wind measurement systems. This includes working with meteorological towers up to 150m tall and assisting with the commissioning of wind LiDAR equipment both onshore and offshore, including installation on wind turbine nacelles.

Some of your work will take place in the field, involving tower climbing, or LiDAR deployments to deliver necessary services. At times you will lead small teams on site, liaising with clients and ensuring accurate completion of tests and records. Your responsibilities will also include creating specifications and designs, method statements, risk assessments, and reports based on data acquired from the equipment. Additionally, you will spend some time in the workshop testing equipment and preparing for upcoming projects.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to wind turbine power performance testing (PPT) projects worldwide. You will gain hands-on experience with meteorological masts, wind LiDAR, and turbine power measurement systems. You will work with various wind turbine makes, models, and technologies, develop customized monitoring systems, and travel internationally to diverse wind farm sites. Our PPT projects are conducted under UKAS accreditation, ensuring high-quality project delivery. You will collaborate with a small team to ensure successful completion of wind measurement projects for our clients in the UK and internationally.

Occasionally, you may also have the chance to contribute to other services such as witnessing factory and harbour acceptance tests as part of our floating lidar technical advisory team, and commissioning wind turbine condition monitoring systems or solar measurement stations.
