Purpose of the job

The role involves leading the end-to-end planning and execution of the website merchandise strategy to deliver pre-defined KPI’s that maximise product sales and profitability of the ecommerce channel. At its core it’ll involve ownership of seasonal product plans across French Connection and Great Plains, understanding what drives and impacts performance to influence it with commercial actions and trading levers.

Key attributes to the role include working with multiple data sources to aid the creation of reporting, along with a strong interpretation of trading results to constantly formulate activities that the junior merchandiser and wider ecommerce team can readily action against. The role will involve collaborating with buying, merchandising, marketing and fulfilment teams to ensure brand ambitions are aligned with commercial goals and operational capabilities.

Planning Responsibilities

  • Providing commercial analysis on historic performance, summarising lessons learnt and a framework to help develop forward plans.

· Making strategic product recommendations to highlight potential risks and opportunities by ensuring key drivers of the range are represented.

  • Creating markdown plan documents to meet margin targets.

· Presenting forecasts to set department targets and KPI’s to sign off with the Head of Ecommerce, B&M and finance management team.

  • Participate in range selection meetings with B&M teams and share insights and allocation direction.
  • Defining sizing requirements and adjusting them accordingly.
  • Understanding ROS & Sell-thru data to project seasonal buys by line.
  • Undertake any analysis required by the business to ensure omni-channel efficiencies.

· Meeting planning deadlines to achieve the brand critical path.

Trading Responsibilities

  • Building and populating reporting stream on sales, stock, profit key metrics and promotions in daily, weekly and monthly trade meetings.
  • Continuously propose, evaluate and oversee trade actions to the digital channel to optimise short and longer term improvements to performance.
  • Take full ownership of the active day-to-day trade plan and any promotions, reacting to performance signals to proposing new solutions and if needed a fresh approach.
  • Influence key stakeholders through compelling merchandising insights and effective presentation of results.
  • Utilising website analytics to monitor KPI’s and enrich product performance data with relevant website behaviour.
  • Be a channel expert with detailed knowledge of product, trends, market and competitor tactics, with a focus throughout on customer. This will enable being key contact for all online analysis.
  • Working with B&M, content and marketing teams to ensure effective product campaign co-ordination.
  • Providing accurate DC forecasts and informing them about any areas that can impact fulfilment capacity.

· Accountable for weekly optimisation of stock levels and recommend actions across the category in reaction to trade performance and upcoming promotional activity to optimise online sales and stock efficiency throughout the supply chain.

· Maintain Weekly Stock Sales and Intake forecasts (WSSI) and support company stock liquidation needs.

· Responsible for OTB management and key contact for issues impacting OTB.

· Collaborate with key stake holders to input proposals for shared merchandise promotional & product content calendar and manage activity in line with critical path deadlines and develop product promotion & themes with the content and creative teams.

· Regularly review sales, margin and KPI’s to identify and understand the key drivers behind performance.

· Responsible for ensuring markdown/promotional accuracy and working with outlet team to action any re-pricing.

· Conduct detailed or deep dive ad-hoc analysis when required on specific categories/product groups.

· Responding quickly to external and unforeseen factors or threats, e.g. emerging trends, unseasonable weather or competitor activity.

· Awareness of company best-sellers vs online & store best sellers to maximise sales.

· Managing poor performing lines by working with teams on stock levels and promotional mechanisms.

· Working with the Ecommerce Director to ensure necessary analysis and produce actions to drive full price sales and margin for the business.

· Understanding returns rates and investigate the reasons behind them, focusing on ways to reduce returns rates.

· Keeping up to date with system amendments and developments, recommending improved ways of working and exploring system development to achieve goals.

· Maintaining stock availability to agreed levels across all product areas by working with merchandising teams to optimise/release/build online stocks to maximise retail sales & profit.

· Close collaboration with wider business functions to communicate the e-commerce strategy and also to ensure the online channel is fully integrated & supported in business thinking.

Requirements

· 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced retail fashion business, preferable within ecommerce

· Solid numerical & analytical skills and experience using web analytics would be an advantage.

· Strong commercial drive, judgement and the ability to spot trading opportunities.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate and influence effectively at management level.

· Highly organised, with great time management skills.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently and handle responsibility.

· A passion for digital and a good understanding of the online customer and multichannel retailing.

· A foundational understanding of digital marketing channels.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks managing priorities and focus as required.

· Proactive and keen to collaborate with wider teams.

This Role is based in the London office, this role is hybrid, with 1 day working from home. We will only be accepting candidates with the right to work in the UK.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months

Salary: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
