Job description

Location: Oxford OX1 1XX, UK (hybrid working available)
Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours a week), permanent; immediate start
Salary: Starting salary £26,500 (6-month probationary period)

Are you a bright graduate about to take that important first step in your career? Perhaps you have already kickstarted your career in a marketing, research or commercial role and are ready for a fresh challenge. At Global Water Intelligence (GWI) you can put your curiosity and eagerness to learn into action, build your skillset, and gain diverse experience across marketing.

At GWI, we are looking for two Marketing Strategists to support our events and publishing marketing efforts. Marketing experience is not essential. We are looking for self-starters who have an interest in digital marketing, a flair for commercial and strategic thinking, that enjoy researching and understanding complex topics, and have an aptitude for tailored copywriting.

It is an exciting time to join GWI’s marketing team. We have great ambitions to strengthen our digital strategy both as a business and in our marketing efforts. We are on a journey to redefine our publishing products while continuing to strengthen and diversify our events and community offerings. This presents a unique opportunity to impact the future success of our business and gain invaluable experience, both in marketing and the development of our product offering.

The role:

We are looking for two marketing strategists. One will support the marketing of GWI Magazine, our monthly publication, and the other will support the marketing of our conferences and Ultrapure Micro membership community.

You will have the opportunity to learn about all facets of marketing, including website management, product development, digital marketing, customer engagement, email marketing, social media, copywriting, market research and database management. In time, the focus of the role will be tailored to your strengths, and this is a great opportunity for you to carve your niche in the team.

The job will involve:

  • Researching our clients and developing a nuanced understanding the dynamics of different market niches
  • Helping to develop and promote content that adds value to different market participants
  • Devising and managing campaigns to engage key communities across our customer base
  • Writing engaging website and email copy targeting professionals with deep domain expertise
  • Maximising engagement / sales via all marketing channels
  • Working to tight deadlines whilst meeting high standards
  • Building strong and collaborative relationships with the internal teams
  • Ownership of social campaigns and digital advertising for your product specialism
  • Representing the marketing team in product development projects

Experience:

We are happy to consider both graduates and candidates with experience in a similar role. If you are someone who enjoys learning about complex topics, has a can-do attitude and is motivated by achieving collective goals then we would love to hear from you. If you do have a marketing background, marketers from B2B events or publishing, science or technology business are preferred.

GWI employees are enrolled on a company pension plan and receive a holiday allowance of 25 days per year. There will be opportunities for you to be sent to relevant training courses and conferences that help you develop within your role. You will also be able to attend our Global Water Summit, which is held in different cities across Europe each year.

Additional applicant instructions:

You must provide both a CV and cover letter to be considered for this role. Applications made without a covering letter will not be considered.

If you have a preference for either the publishing or conferences Marketing Strategist role, then you are welcome to specify this in your application. However, we are happy to introduce you to these roles in more detail and consider which might be a better fit at a later stage.

Please submit your CV and covering letter to [email protected], explaining in fewer than 200 words why you are applying for the job and how you think your contribution could make a real difference to our business. The closing date for applications is 13 April 2023.

We may ask candidates to complete a skills test to determine who should move onto the interview stage.

We encourage you to apply early, as we may close the vacancy if we receive sufficient applications.

Please note that due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to offer feedback on any applications not carried through to the interview stage.
