Role Purpose:

The UK Marketing function is focused on supporting the strategic and revenue growth priorities of the Bank by delivering Fair outcomes for customers. The function focuses on understanding customers and the identification, development and execution of brand marketing strategies, campaigns and activities that support and strengthen the HSBC UK brand, support the drive for revenue and increase customer value and satisfaction in order to meet agreed targets and objectives at market level. The UK Commercial Banking Social Media Marketing Manager is an important role within the Commercial Banking (CMB) Marketing team and is responsible for driving the strategic development and execution of CMB’s social media activity to build our brand and support our strategic and commerical priorities. The role is multi-faceted, including strategic and operational social media planning, content creation and social media communications delivery across organic channels and paid campaigns, understanding the market, competitor analysis and customer insight to enhance the customer experience across all CMB social media touchpoints, as well as ensuring alignment with marketing activities across other channels. The job holder will use research and market insight to help identify opportunities, formulate recommendations and take forward new initiatives that demonstrate forward thinking within the social media space and position HSBC as a leader in the marketplace. The CMB Marketing team works with multiple stakeholders and the job holder requires the ability to effectively interface and build strong working relationships to generate an in depth understanding of the marketplace, the business environment and objectives and how they can most effectively contribute to these. With accountability for managing marketing budget for area(s) of responsibility the job holder will effectively assess projected expenditure against targets, business objectives and delivery of return on investment against plan. Demonstrate a good understanding of key trends and areas of innovation which influence the way we interact and engage with our external customers and our internal stakeholders and audience. These should include digital marketing, new technology, Marketing Automation, Customer Relationship Management, Agile working practices, data and analytical tools and how this helps us to be more customer centric.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • from briefing to delivery, both for standalone social media campaigns and as part of broader integrated marcomms campaigns
  • Manage the CMB allocated campaign/s marketing budget efficiently, striving for maximum ROI, ensuring that all campaigns and BAU social activities are delivered within budget and deadlines
  • Work with business stakeholders and Marketing colleagues to define the role for social media and create compelling agency briefs, with clear objectives and targets
  • Ensure Marketing Insight & Effectiveness learning from campaign/activity PIRs is incorporated, where appropriate, into social media briefs and campaign/activity development
  • Provide central liaison with segment and product teams to drive relevant social media activities which deliver targeted and creative direct marketing, and challenge where applicable
  • Gain compliance, legal and brand sign-off for all direct social media activity
  • Report against social media activities on a regular basis and provide actionable learnings and optimise accordingly
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Past working experience in a relevant role is essential, i.e. a social media role that demonstrates the development and delivery of impactful paid and organic social media communications campaigns that drive business success – including:
  • an in-depth understanding of the major social media platforms, their capabilities and best practice
  • the development of social media creative according to social media best practice
  • the development of paid social media plans, including an understanding of targeting techniques, buying strategies, appropriate formats, and measurement KPIs
  • the management and optimization of an organic social media content strategy and runway of activity
  • the application of social media best practice across all social media creative and media activity
  • the effective measurement of organic and paid social media activity performance – identifying and reporting on relevant KPIs and applying learnings to future activity
  • Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Financial Services or market leading brand is desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of B2B marketing is highly desirable
  • Experience of managing £m budgets on an ongoing basis
  • Capable team member and participant, able to solve problems individually or in groups and committed to personal development Commercial awareness and understanding of product profitability dynamics
  • Ability to work within and adapt to an environment which experiences significant change
  • Excellent project management skills are essential
  • Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail, a passion for quality, and an ability to plan, to prioritise and to escalate where necessary
  • Comfortable working under time and volume pressures
  • Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
  • Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
  • Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
  • Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques

The base location for this role will be 8 Canada Square, London with hybrid working.
