The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a person with commercial and marcomms experience to join our team in a leadership role. You will drive revenue growth through new business activities, partnerships and sponsorship opportunities and supported by a marcomms contractor, lead the development and implementation of Gloucestershire FA's marketing and communications strategy.
We are looking for a person with enthusiasm, energy and a passion for sport who can identify, develop and engage with both commercial and non-commercial partners and lead the Association's marketing and communications services to clubs, coaches, referees and football volunteers.
Key Accountabilities
Commercial
- Identify, approach, and conclude agreements with business organisations that increase annual revenue.
- Identify, approach, and conclude partnership agreements with non-commercial organisations in the community (e.g. mutually-beneficial agreements with non-profit organisations and charities).
- Ensure formal contracts / Service Level Agreements are in place with all partners.
- Manage commercial and non-commercial partnerships to ensure mutual expectations are delivered.
- Ensure renewal negotiations are started well in advance of all agreements' expiry dates.
- Managing risk assessments for new and existing initiatives.
Marketing
- Lead the Association's marketing and communications services, including regular e-newsletters for clubs, coaches and referees.
- Provide local marketing support to dedicated Glos FA / FA campaigns and events.
- Manage, develop and regularly update Gloucestershire FA's websites and social media accounts.
- Review Gloucestershire FA publications to ensure consistency of message.
- Ensure all communications via social media with under-18s are in line with FA safeguarding policies.
- Support delivery of a planned approach to youth engagement and communicate in a child-friendly way.
- Develop links within the local media to ensure that there is regular coverage of the Association's activities.
General
- Listen to and consult with under-18s on their experiences of grassroots football as part of the youth engagement strategy.
- Utilise the feedback from under-18s and adults at risk to enhance the experience and fun and safety in grassroots football.
- Ensure the Association promotes safeguarding through its communication channels, signposting policy, procedures, advice, guidance, and information for youth and open-age adult grassroots football with 16/17-year-olds and disability football.
- Provide the highest level of customer excellence to support volunteers across all FA Technology systems
- Undertake relevant market research to identify progress and highlight areas for priority action.
- Manage the Association's annual grassroots awards programme.
- Contribute to ensuring that safeguarding and equality are embedded throughout the Association and within grassroots football.
- Execute tasks as required to meet the Association's changing priorities.

- A degree-level qualification and two years' marketing and/or sales experience.

- Experience of monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
- Knowledge of good people management practice.
Desirable
- A business, marketing or related qualification.

- Project management skills and experience – to plan, set and achieve objectives within deadlines.
- Budget management skills.
- Ability to use data to monitor and evaluate programmes.
- Previous experience in sales and marketing
- Understanding of The FA's National Game Strategy.
- Experience of working with volunteers / young people
- Knowledge of, and existing contacts within the local/regional business community.
- Knowledge of, and existing contacts within the local/regional public sector and charity community.
- Knowledge of, and existing contacts within the local/regional media sector.
