The Ripple Pond - Your Forces Family Network
Full Time Remote 24500 - 28500 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Job description

If you apply for this role we will look at your uniqueness, your skills, your professionalism, and your heart.

Not your age, gender, background, accent, community, sexual orientation, heritage..........

We are not naïve, very few candidates will be able to confidently throw themselves into everything this role requires on day one.

But you must be creative, be able to “do detail”, have a flair for language, be incredibly good at time management, and be resilient.

You must be able to talk confidently about challenging subjects and break taboos. For example, we talk about addictions, mental health, suicide, menopause, domestic abuse, discrimination, and the complexities of family life, you must be able to take part in and promote these and similar discussions through your role.

But a word of warning The Ripple Pond is not just a charity, it is a vibrant active community that transforms people’s lives. This is the reason why our community works so well and why we really care about effective internal and external communication.

The Marketing and Communication Officer is at the heart of this activity; creating, coordinating, curating, and caring. Helping The Ripple Pond to achieve its mission of supporting adult family members and loved ones of physically and psychologically injured British Armed Forces personnel and Veterans.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Helping the charity’s Board of Trustees, Managers, and workforce maintain a meaningful dialogue with our Members to ensure we understand their needs.
  • Giving our Members a voice and ensuring that voice is heard across society.
  • Curating the public face of The Ripple Pond through our website, social media, publications, and marketing material.
  • Creating and designing content and marketing material, as well as commissioning design agencies to create output.
  • Manage marketing and information campaigns.
  • Coordinate high-profile media and networking events.
  • Create powerful narratives to share our Members’ stories and describe the impact of our services.
  • To understand the impact of our marketing and communications and advise the Board and Senior Managers.
  • Act as a spokesperson for The Ripple Pond and build relationships with media outlets.
  • In collaboration with the Board of Trustees, The Director, managers, and stakeholders create marketing and communication plans and strategies as required. This includes strategies to engage with hard-to-reach groups.

You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of audiences including Armed Forces Serving and Veteran Communities, healthcare providers, statutory organisations, charities, commercial organisations, government bodies, media organisations, funders, as well as minority groups and harder-to-reach stakeholders.

As an employer, we are supporters of accessibility, social mobility and inclusion.

We will be looking at applicants as rounded individuals, so if you feel drawn to this role and think you have the right skills but feel held back by something like a lack of experience/qualifications, or have a gap in your CV - please follow your heart and apply.

The Charity Director Rodger Cartwright is holding an online briefing for potential applicants from 1 pm to 2 pm on Tuesday 28 March 2023.

The briefing will be held via Zoom and will be a very informal introduction to the values and workings of The Ripple Pond. It does not form part of the selection process for candidates.

To register in advance for this meeting copy and paste the below link into your web browser:
