Are you an organised, creative and resourceful communicator looking to develop your skills?

We are now recruiting for a Marketing and Communications Assistant to join theHealth Innovation Network(HIN). This role would provide support across all our marketing and communications activities, helping us to engage with patients, staff and innovators to improve health and care in south London.

Hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust, we enjoy the benefits of being NHS members of staff while focusing on innovation to improve the lives of patients and staff in the health and care sector. We support innovators and health and care teams in London and across the country to tackle some of the greatest challenges facing the health and care sector, including:

  • Reducing the backlog of patients waiting for care;
  • Improving the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the workforce;
  • Identifying and reducing disparities in health outcomes due to health inequalities.
We are looking for a creative and well-organised communicator with good fundamental skills and a willingness to learn and develop. We deliver a range of marketing and communications activities; some of your duties could include
  • Writing copy and creating imagery for social media posts;
  • Analysis of statistics to understand how our activities are performing;
  • Being the main point of contact for internal requests for communications support sent via our shared mailbox and triaging these appropriately;
  • Managing finance requests related to communications activities and ensuring that administrative best practice is always followed.
The post holder will be expected to be comfortable managing competing priorities and coordinating team members to deliver work efficiently whilst maintaining high standards.

What is the Health Innovation Network?

The HIN is the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) for south London, one of 15 AHSNs across England. We work across a range of health and care services through each of our clinical and innovation themes, to transform care in diabetes, patient safety, mental health, cardiovascular and healthy ageing and to accelerate innovations into the NHS. AHSNs help mobilise the value that the NHS can add as an economic asset to the UK economy. As an AHSN the HIN works with a range of expert support and services across the health and care sectors that support NHS innovators and companies to realise the commercial and economic potential of their innovations.

As part of the HIN adaptable working principles, which allows our ability to adapt to anticipated changes in project portfolios and gives staff the opportunity to enhance their skills and expertise, the successful candidate may be asked to operate across other themes and projects.

Deliver strategic priorities to build a positive reputation and help us realise our ambitions as an organisation. This will include ad hoc involvement with wider Strategic Communications projects.

Gather insight, feedback and research to assist with the creation and evaluation of effective marketing campaigns.

Work with others to monitor, assess and report on market developments and trends.

Work with the internal communications officer to support our staff with up to date information about what is happening through maintenance of weekly e-bulletin, monthly Team Meeting and staff engagement events.

Supports with the forward media plan, placing features as well as building good relationships with the media, dealing with enquiries from journalists, producing press statements and releases, liaising with television and radio crews for local, regional and national coverage.
