We have an immediate opening for a Market Analyst to analyse, interpret and process sales data for our global CHC sales database, DB6. The role will also involve data-related analysis for our numerous clients.
Numeracy and proficiency in Excel are a must and applicants must have reached a minimum education level of a Bachelor's degree .
Additional experience in database programmes such as Filemaker and data visualisation services such as Power BI would also be of interest. Programming skills are not required. Experience of working with audit data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI), gathering industry information and extrapolating from multiple sources of data and soft information would also be highly advantageous.
The post requires an eye for detail, strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Nicholas Hall’s DB6 global CHC sales database is a strategic database, which provides a comprehensive overview of the sales of OTC medicines globally.
The database is used widely as a key strategic by management teams from a range of global, regional and national clients.
Key tasks
Produce an annual database (with quarterly updates) of OTC sales, which shows the most accurate picture of market trends with the information available
- Each team member is allocated specific markets for which they are responsible for the data analysis / processing
- Incorporate information gathered from local audits, manufacturer interviews, data validations, companies’ published data, desk research, and other sources into the database
- Analyse and manipulate data gathered from the above sources to fit our DB6 definitions and extrapolate the data to the correct time period where necessary
- Monitor regional activities (e.g. regulatory changes, M&A, incidence of seasonal pathologies, launch activity) using in-house information and desk research, to enable you to “fill in the gaps”, where required.
- Liaise with the appropriate periodicals team to ensure that the dataset agrees with the latest research and knowledge of the market
Other tasks
- Liaise / negotiate with clients and quoting prices for ad hoc data requests / customised projects
- Prepare and send out data to clients (may involve some additional research / analysis)
- Complete data requests / projects for global subscribers under their contracted consultancy hours
- Using statistical techniques and industry knowledge, make forecasts and projections to assist with client’s business planning
- Provide assistance to and training clients to ensure that are able to make the most of all the database features
- Customise the data to meet the individual requirements of subscribers
- Use data expertise to help researcher / writers and consultants with data for their reports and projects where necessary
- Validate the DB6 dataset with industry experts contacts where possible, to improve robustness of the data

Location: Our HQ is in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, UK. Office attendance will be required periodically, but option to work remotely will be considered.
