Associated British Ports (ABP) is both a major landlord and port operator with 21 port locations in the UK. Our Humber operation incorporates 4 ports in Immingham, Hull, Goole and Grimsby and handles over 60 million tonnes of Cargo combined on an annual basis. We work very closely with our customers to provide innovative solutions to logistics within the UK and on the back of this deliver a number of projects annually with major impact to the Britain’s economy and to the long term efficiency of the shipping industry.
As the busiest Tidal Estuary on the East of the UK, our pilotage operations team plays a major role in the safe and effective docking of vessels from around the globe. A key function within this is our data centre who will take the information on incoming vessels and facilitate the administration of each shipment entering the Humber. Due to our continued growth we're looking to recruit an additional Marine Information Officer to join the team in Grimsby.
Working on a 4 on, 4 off basis (2 days, 2 nights – 12 hour shifts) you'll work as part of a team who will manage the data entry and Pilotage logistics of the vessels which manoeuvre on the Humber Estuary. We're looking for someone with prior experience with data entry, problem solving and labour allocation management to ensure the correct skills are matched to the correct vessel type, strong written & verbal communication ability and be highly computer literate.
The role can involve delivery of work with high pressure in order to meet tight time frames, but with backing from a strong supportive management team and first class training you'll have the support and training needed to excel in this position. Ideally you should have some marine knowledge and have worked in a similar role previously, but someone with exceptional administration skills would fit into the team really well. You'll need to be able to drive as certain aspects of the role will involve travel within the Humber ports.
Key skills for the role:
- Excellent I.T. skills, including knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Excel
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure within a team
- Willingness to undertake 24/7 shift pattern
- Full driving licence
