Job description
Strategy Escape Rooms are looking for an individual to help with running and operations of day to day business.
This is not your typical work environment. As an Escape Room venue, fun, creativity and play are what we want to foster and our role is to embody and provide that for our customers as best we can.
We are a privately owned, well-established escape room venue in the local area with a very good reputation and tradition.
We are looking for someone who is:
* Flexible with scheduling/availability
* Creatively passionate
* Has a love for, and understands the value of ’play’
* Is sociable, outgoing and can make customers feel welcome
* Be willing to think of ways to advertise the business, particularly with social media
* Able to work on a flexible freelance basis, with a view to eventually taking over more permanent management and running of the venue
* Able to attend bookings at short notice (notice period can be discussed)
Full training can be provided to the right candidate.
***Your Role***
As an escape game master/manager, you will greet customers, brief them on the game + rules, answer any questions and create a welcoming, excited atmosphere before they play, alongside general operations of the shop, opening/closing, using the booking system, etc.
After the customers enter the room and begin playing, you will monitor their progress via camera and provide hints/clues where needed or requested to assist their progression.
To this end, you will be familiar with the procedure and flow of each game to ensure accurate information is given so they do not have their limited time wasted.
Full training, instructions, support and practise working alongside the current manager will be provided. Understandingly, becoming familiar is a gradual process.
After the game has finished, you will need to reset the room in preparation for the next booking. Again, full training and space for practise will be provided here.
Other duties will include:
Keeping the venue clean and tidy, safety checks and procedures, reporting of damage to relevant persons, general maintaining of the venue (toilet rolls stocked, adequate supplies for day to day function etc).
***Terms of work***
You will initially operate as a freelancer, on a self-employed basis while training toward the manager role which would then be contractual. Meaning that outside of general support and training shifts to learn and practise at the venue, how much work there is can depend on your availability and involvement.
We encourage staff to as creative as you wish in attracting customers and keeping the games fresh, we are very open to ideas and ways to get more custom, and you would be rewarded accordingly for what is brought in.
Eventually, with increased/successful operations, your role can expand to a higher position of responsibility to manage and run the venue more directly as you see fit (in agreement with the owner), where your ideas and creativity may be further exercised.
***Payment/Salary***
The basic premise is that you get paid for the bookings generated from your ideas/efforts + an hourly rate for attendance working at the venue.
More details can be discussed with the right candidate.
Please include a basic cover letter along with a CV.
