We have an exciting opportunity to join our Waitrose Packaging Innovation & Delivery team and are looking for a Manager, Packaging Innovation & delivery.

A key part of this role will be to act as an enabler to effectively test and bring new and emerging packaging trends to market and strengthen Waitrose reputation as an innovator. You will effectively deliver cost effective packaging innovation on strategic Own Brand propositions and category plans and efficient artwork delivery for Own Brand products.

This role would suit someone with a passion for packaging and an ethical and long term approach to

packaging strategies. A passion for continual learning and engaging in an external environment is

You will have:

Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Continuously understand the market, trends and customer insight on packaging and identify Own Brand and Innovation opportunities

  • Provides a Centre of Expertise for Own Brand packaging

  • Identifying and interpreting Global, Customer and Product trends for packaging and applies these appropriately for the Waitrose Brand

  • Presenting the strategy and process for key suppliers

  • Works collaboratively and provides input to Strategy & Change team on broader

  • packaging and CSR direction

  • Ability to adapt plans in the context of a fast paced marketplace, identifying opportunities to enhance strategic plans for packaging, identifying barriers/dependencies/enablers and influences the CLT and broader senior stakeholders across the business


Essential skills you’ll need


  • Extensive experience in retail environment

  • Ability to manage a dotted line team and grow performance

  • Experience and understanding of legislation for food and non food packaging

  • Experience of artwork, reprographics and print processes

  • Artwork & technical online systems experience
