Job description
Job title: Salaried GP/Partner Reports to (job title): GP Partner, Practice Manager Job purpose Base Location: Tudor Surgery (Nantwich, South Cheshire) Tudor Surgery is a close-knit, well-organised, cohesive practice with a friendly working environment, quality care and a proven record of innovation and adapting to change. We require one or more Salaried GPs (or Partners) for 4-6 sessions following a colleagues departure and due to our growing list size and the need for succession planning our fifty-something GPs. Sessions typically involve around fourteen direct patient contacts and Salaried GPs are paid at £12,000 per session based on the BMA model contract. Tudor Surgery has a growing list of 4,800 patients served by 2.25 whole-time equivalent GPs, formerly one Partner and two Salaried GPs.
We generally have one GP, occasionally two, working alongside Clinical Pharmacists or an Advanced Nurse Practitioner plus the usual supporting practice staff including our First-contact Physiotherapist and a Social Prescriber. We support staff to work at the top of their licence and continue to recruit to improve our skill mix and resilience. Situated in the market town of Nantwich, South Cheshire, we share purpose-built premises with on-site community staff and two other practices. We have a staff room for informal chats over hot drinks and lunch and a meeting room for our regular clinical meetings.
Were busy - but not drowning - and before we became under-doctored the workload was entirely manageable within a 9am-6pm working day. The position would suit a GP capable of working independently and seeking the opportunity to influence the future direction of the Practice, including quality improvement and the ongoing development of clinical protocols. The remaining Partner has worked in Nantwich for 15 years and is happy to share his acquired knowledge while seeking to encourage the innovation that new colleagues can offer. Since 2012 we have maximised capacity via our GP-Led telephone appointment system, excellent nurse-led chronic disease management and our work on self-care.
This gives us great control over our workload and means that most patients are dealt with the same day, so no tedious arguments about waiting times. Home visiting rates are low due to a combination of our shared Urgent Community Response, shared Complex Care Practitioner and regular weekly Care Home visits. Clinical administration is kept manageable by the involvement of the whole Practice team. The Practice Nurses action chronic disease and normal investigation results, administrative staff scan and code hospital correspondence and add medication prior to review by a clinician for issuing, whereas most of the repeat prescriptions are sorted by non-medical prescribers.
We use EMIS web for medical record-keeping and PATCHS for online consultation requests. Tudor Surgery achieves high patient satisfaction and QOF points, CQC rate us as Good plus we teach medical and nursing students, foundation doctors and GP registrars. We can introduce you to daytime portfolio opportunities involving Intermediate Care, Urgent Care and Geriatrician GP roles. There are also options to further increase earnings by working extended hours either within the Practice or via local Hubs.
