Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to join our rapidly expanding Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) team. The team provides specialist IFRS, UK GAAP, and US GAAP accounting and financial reporting advice to clients across a range of complex accounting issues.
You will work across a diverse range of projects, varying in magnitude and complexity, focusing on the application of technical accounting in mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and joint ventures. In particular, your role will focus on accounting policy alignment and GAAP conversions, preparation of traditional and special purpose financial statements (combined and carve-out, proforma for IPO, acquisitions, disposals), transaction structuring, acquisition accounting, and group reorganisations. You will frequently work as part of cross-functional teams including Transaction Services, Capital Markets, Valuations, Tax and Legal. You will also support with business development activities with clients and contribute to the team’s growth and success.
As a Manager, you will liaise directly with your clients responding to a range of technical queries, drawing both on your own expertise and identifying when additional input is required from more senior colleagues. You will lead teams and supervise the work of junior staff. You will also have performance management responsibilities for a small number of employees.

Responsibilities
- Managing client deals accounting related engagements. This will include managing small teams and leading AAS input into larger, multi-disciplinary teams.

Providing accounting support, including reports and presentations relating to M&A and listing transactions (IPO, SPAC, debt issue). This may include:
- Working with other teams within KPMG, such as deal advisory/tax/legal, to provide technical accounting support on cross-functional engagements.
- Providing GAAP analysis and accounting policy conversions in an M&A and IPO context.
- Supporting the preparation of historical financial information and proforma information for regulatory filings in accordance with relevant accounting, capital markets, or other regulatory frameworks.
- Providing accounting advice on the implications of various transaction contract structures.
- Supporting transaction teams with acquisition accounting analysis and model reviews under relevant accounting frameworks.
- Providing accounting support to identify implications of pre-and post-deal business reorganisation plans.
- Assessing the impact of recently adopted and new accounting standards within a deal context.
- Project management skills. Experience in managing cross functional projects will be preferred.
- Performance managing junior team members, ensuring that you are having rich development conversations that support their growth and career progression.
- Helping to grow our business through building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and KPMG individuals.
- Contributing to practice and risk management, including thought leadership and business development activities.
Experience and Knowledge Requirements
Experience of working within an accounting advisory function of a professional services firm / corporate business sector.
- M&A and IPO accounting experience would be beneficial.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of IFRS, UK GAAP (FRS 101/102) and the UK Companies Act.
- Knowledge and experience of US GAAP would be beneficial.
- Experience of managing teams, coaching and mentoring junior staff.
- Proven track record of managing and delivering high quality, complex projects with stakeholder deliverables.
- Business development experience with new and existing clients within the corporate sector would be beneficial.
