At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.
Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.
Role:
The Honda Motor Europe (HME) Commercial Finance team are responsible for financial analysis and planning, providing commercial business support to the HME business and functional business heads.
The Management Accountant will be primarily responsible for providing month end, budgeting, financial analysis, and support for the Automobile Cost Centre managers.
Main Responsibilities:
Cost Centre Support:
- Provide direct cost centre support to Logistics and Marketing teams.
- Line Management of the Department Undergraduate, who is in charge of supporting all the other Automobile cost centres.
- Full ownership for delivering month end process ensuring accurate results, analysing variances against budget, reporting of variances to senior management by cost centre and spend type.
- Support cost centre managers with the creation of operational budgets, the reforecast processes for quarterly budgets, and longer-term forecasting and planning. Providing timely submissions to Honda Motor (Global).
- Update process documentation and ensure streamlined processes, generating efficiencies where possible.
Assisting Commercial Accountants:
- Support the production of monthly results across the business divisions.
- Ensuring all system entries are completed accurately and within the given deadlines.
- Working with the Shared Service Centre to drive data quality and process improvement.
- Ensure variances to budget are understood and provide commentary where required.
- Support the budget and forecast process across the business divisions.
- Ensure budget submissions are accurate and timely.
- Ensure budget conditions are communicated clearly and understood by the business.
- Provide challenge to the business division where required.
Ad Hoc Analysis:
- Undertake ad hoc analysis and investigations when required.
- Investigate and resolve old vendor balances and invoicing /credit note issues to facilitate the clearing of old vendor accounts.
- Resolve finance related queries.
- Support process improvement and change within Commercial Finance team.
- Support ongoing and new projects.
- Provide general support where required within the team.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required
- Advanced user of Excel.
- Significant Knowledge of and confidence in using SAP.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- The ability and desire to balance differing requirements and priorities to achieve set objectives in strict deadlines.
- Experience of collaborating with others on projects and tasks to achieve joint objectives.
- Presenting data analysis and recommendations to stakeholders of all levels.
Desirable
- Hyperion (MARS) knowledge.
- Minimum Part Qualified (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent).
- Previous experience of working in a European environment.
- IFRS accounting knowledge preferred.
- Experience of dealing with FX calculations on a Pan-E level.
