Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students and welcoming our families. Wornick is seeking a “Peleh Lab” Director starting in the summer of 2023. Peleh is the Hebrew word for “Wonder.” Wornick’s Peleh Lab is both a space and a program that supports STEAM education, Design Thinking and our Project Based Learning approach to education across our TK-8th grade program. The Peleh Lab was constructed in 2017 and shares a space with our Art Room. It speaks to our larger goals of sparking inspiration and imagination for our students that will serve them as future leaders and change makers.
The Peleh Lab Director will play a key role in STEAM and Design Education across the TK-8th grade program. Responsibilities include, curriculum development, teaching, safety management, lab upkeep, material ordering, and assisting students and adults with technical projects.
Responsibilities:
⁃ Collaborating effectively with all educators to ensure that Peleh activities at each grade level are integrated into the curriculum and authentic expressions of learning
⁃ Teaching Middle School electives in design, STEAM education, computer science and coding, robotics and other related topics
⁃ Training students and faculty in tools and equipment within the innovation space
⁃ Serving as a mentor to students and faculty
⁃ Teaching weekly classes to lower school students in coordination with their teachers
⁃ Maintaining the Peleh Lab including but not limited to:
- Maintaining and repairing equipment when necessary
- Ordering project supplies
- Managing and keeping track of safety and training for all users
- Managing storage
- Maintaining a clean and safe lab for all users
Qualifications:
⁃ Shop and/or maker space experience
⁃ Knowledge of computer science, robotics, and design thinking education
⁃ Experience collaborating with diverse groups of educators
⁃ Growth mindset
⁃ BA required, MA in education strongly preferred
⁃ Possess a strong work ethic and positive spirit
Position Details:
Salary Range between $78,000-$105,000 depending on experience
Additional benefit stipend to assist with retirement contributions, dependant benefits or taken as taxable compensation
