Maintenance Operative – Leeds
Permanent, Full Time
Based at Woodhouse, Flats, 1874 St Mark's Street, Woodhouse, Leeds LS2 9EP
Salary Range up to £21,000.00
To contribute to an excellent hospitality and customer service experience through provision of the highest standard of repairs & maintenance. You will be working within a hospitality team based at our site in Leeds and supported by a number of head office functions including a facilities manager and operational staff.
General tasks include decoration; maintenance/repair at the property (student accommodation); building fabric/building services repair; supervision & planning of works carried out by external contractors; grounds maintenance activities. In addition, you be expected to be able to:
- Provide an excellent customer focused service delivery
- Carry out fire alarm tests, emergency light flick tests, basic water hygiene tests (such as taking temperatures and cleaning showerheads, fire evacuations and other health & safety activities as required on a site-specific basis
- Respond to calls outside office hours which cannot be resolved without a presence on site (referring to appropriate contractors as necessary)
- Ensure the property is well maintained, safe and secure
- Ensure the effective provision of gardens and grounds maintenance
- Manage and maintain all statutory testing records, including PAT and Fire Alarm servicing, using our online Facilities portal system (training will be provided)
- Provide an effective hard & soft facilities management service
Attributes/ Personal Characteristics
This role would suit a good team player, someone with a desire to develop their skills, a good communicator with a positive attitude and an individual capable of working under limited supervision. As well as working with the current hospitality team you would be required to work with external contractors and students living at the property. A methodical approach to work and the ability to prioritise effectively are therefore essential.
Previous involvement with large commercial buildings such as offices, hotels, social housing or similar would be advantageous.
As a minimum we require candidates to have basic GSCE qualifications or equivalent and a basic use /understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (or similar).
