The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Accounting West the Transportation Accountant will participate on a team dedicated to providing a seamless interaction with internal and external customers that is market-driven, revenue oriented and dedicated to providing maximum customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for analyzing and recording monthly revenue and volumetric entries and ensuring the accurate accounting and FERC regulatory reporting of revenue and volumes for US natural gas pipelines.

The Transportation Accountant will work closely with Customer Services, Measurement, Commercial Services, Marketing, and Contracts teams to perform detailed analysis and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

We are seeking a motivated accountant who is eager to learn about the gas pipeline business and gain experience in FERC regulated revenue and gas accounting.

What you’ll do

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

Monthly reporting and analysis of revenue and volumetric accounts,
Reconcile the accuracy of reported transaction back to source systems,
Record and report on monthly revenue and volumetric flows,
Collaborate with Commercial Services team to analyze, develop, and test Transactional System corrections and enhancements,
Assist in preparing Tracker Filings, FERC and EIA Reporting,
Reconcile general ledger accounts on a GAAP and FERC basis,
Collaborate with Customer Service Representatives in analyzing customer transportation activity to resolve billing disputes,
Participate in identifying opportunities to streamline and develop new processes to obtain efficiencies,
Provide Audit Responses and perform SOX Controls, and
Other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and communication skills,
Ability to create effective solutions,
Ability to handle multiple assignments with varying priorities and due dates,
Proficiency in Excel and/or Access,
Ability to work independently, within a team environment and cross functionally,
Customer Service orientated, and
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting rules,
Desire to participate in a team atmosphere and embrace technology,
Working knowledge of SQL or Power Query,
Working knowledge of SAP accounting software, and
Knowledge of regulated gas transactional systems.
