Are you passionate about making sure our dogs have a safe, comfortable stay in our Rehoming Centres? Are you looking for a hands-on, practical role where you can get involved in a variety of maintenance work?
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.
As Maintenance Operative, you’ll be no stranger to getting your paws dirty to make sure that our centres are secure and welcoming environments for our dogs, staff, and visitors. Besides tackling day-to-day issues and breakdowns, you’ll also be designing and building innovative solutions that will genuinely enhance the lives and welfare of our dogs at the centre. From painting and decorating to landscaping and vehicle maintenance, this is a varied role is both practical and physical.
As either a qualified tradesperson or experienced handyperson, you’ll have a good understanding of routine maintenance in the working environment and a grasp of Health and Safety legislation. You’ll also be a confident communicator who is comfortable building relationships with external contractors, as well as a proactive, problem-solving attitude and keen eye for detail. A full, manual driving licence is essential, as driving is a part of this role.
