Position Summary
The Roadways & Transportation team, at the City of Regina, impact the lives of residents within our community every single day. Roadways Maintenance Operations is a crucial part our City’s service delivery and we are looking for a dynamic and impactful leader to enhance our potential and implement corporate objectives.

In addition to the leadership skills required for this position, The Manager, Roadways Maintenance Operations provides long and short term operational and program planning, financial management, and stakeholder relationship management for the area. This role is also responsible for the maintenance, operations, and care of the existing concrete and asphalt infrastructure including reconstruction, capping, pothole repair, sidewalk slab jacking, roadway depressions, general maintenance, and utility cuts. Duties & Responsibilities Leading the development and implementation of the Roadways Maintenance Operations annual operational plan in the context of both the City and Department plans. Managing the maintenance and operations of the City’s concrete, landscaping, and asphalt infrastructure to ensure the work meets identified service levels and supports the strategic direction of the division. Determining branch priorities, assessing asphalt and concrete maintenance technologies, systems and processes and overseeing large asphalt maintenance projects which requires ability to understand the engineering and practical applications of asphalt. Managing contractors and rental equipment to meet operational demands. Communicating with the public both to respond to escalated public complaints, such as potholes, depressions, utility cut issues and safety hazards, or requests for information and to seek input into pending operations or levels of service that will impact the citizens of the City. Providing direct leadership, mentoring, training and coaching for supervisors, coordinators and other staff. Providing leadership for specific employee/labour relations issues which includes participation informal grievance and arbitration processes. Ensuring development of policies, systems, and procedures across all areas of mandate. Leading the development of the operations budget and ensuring that there is timely and accurate forecasting and ongoing analysis of the budget and expenditures. Where necessary, proactive mitigation strategies are developed and implemented. Ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to and proactively identifying operational risks, program/service reviews and developing recommendations and action plans. Conducting safety meetings, worksite inspections and leading a safety-focused culture within the branch in accordance with the Corporate Safety Program. What's in it for you?
